El bordillo del Hospitalet

El Bordillo del Hospitalet es un anteproyecto de intervención en el espacio público situado en el límite que divide L’Hospitalet de Llobregat y Barcelona, Cataluña. El proyecto toma el nombre del municipio como punto de partida para tejer conceptos sobre la hospitalidad y la frontera, con temas relacionados al nombre y el registro, la enfermedad y el cuidado, así como la migración.
La propuesta se materializa en una secuencia de preguntas pintadas en el bordillo de la acera. Al escribirse en espacio entre la acera y la calle, las preguntas interactúan de manera accidental con el inmobiliario público, la señalética y la actividad de la calle.
¿Se le ofrece hospitalidad a los viajeros que van de paso?
¿Y a los que se quedan?
¿Quién la otorga?
¿A quién se le otorga?
¿Es incondicional la hospitalidad?
¿Se puede ofrecer hospitalidad sin registrar,
sin conocer los nombres, las historias?
¿Preguntar el nombre y la historia es un acto de amor
o de violencia?
¿La identidad, es un nombre, una historia o un número?
¿Es más importante tener una casa o una dirección?
¿Se extiende la hospitalidad a todo un linaje?
¿Cuándo puede el huésped ofrecer la hospitalidad?

El proyecto fue desarrollado en el marco del taller ‘L’Hospitalet: aprender del contexto, imaginar posibilidades’, realizado por Antoni Muntadas y el Arxiu Muntadas. Fue presentado en Tecla Sala como parte de la agenda de eventos de la exposición ‘Our garden needs its flowers’.

El Bordillo del Hospitalet is a public space intervention proposal sited along the boundry that divides L’Hospitalet de Llobregat and Barcelona in Catalonia. The project takes the name of the municipality as a point of depature to weave concepts of hospitality and the border, with themes related to naming and registering, illness and care, as well as migration.
The proposal is materialised through a series of questions painted on the curb. As inscriptions on the space between the pavement and the street, the questions interact in an accidental way with the street furniture, signage and activity.
The project was developed as part of the workshop L’Hospitalet: aprender del contexto, imaginar posibilidades (“L’Hospitalet: learning from context, imagining new posibilities”) by Antoni Muntadas and Arxiu Muntadas. It was presented in Tecla Sala in the events programme linked to the exhibition ‘Our garden needs its flowers’.
